Finally, the second week of Movie Tuesday is here with a movie, namely, BLACK!
Starring AMITABH BACHAN as the Teacher, Debraj, & RANI MUKERJI, as Michelle, this movie by SANJAY LEELA BHANSALI, is a heart touching masterpiece
.
A Little Background
Michelle, is declared to be blind, deaf, and mute for the rest of her life. Her father, a strict rich man neglects her daughter, while the mother is quite anxious to get her daughter a mentor. Finally, a teacher named Debraj (Amitabh Bachan) is hired for Michelle, who takes advantage of the absence of Michelle’s father, Mr. McNally and takes over the charge in the house.
LEARNING FROM THE MOVIE
According to some sites, it is the story of Miss Hellen Keller’s life. However, our blog post is about some key takeaways from the movie that makes it stand out from a casual review.
1. Life WITHOUT Senses EXISTS
Michelle lacks sense of hearing and sight, still she can picture things in her mind by feeling and touching. She can sense her surroundings. It teaches us to be grateful to the creator for the blessings of senses.
Secondly, thinking that such people as Michelle can be tricked and easily fooled, are inhumane thoughts, and satanic intensions.
2. You DON’T Need EYES To DREAM
There is a scene in the movie when Michelle disagrees with the point narrated by her teacher, “The dreams that you see with your eyes.”
Mr. Debraj narrates her actions, “Heart dreams, not the eyes. I am blind, but I have a dream to graduate.” And the class roars up with an applause.
Our eyes are to see the finite. The heart dreams of big and infinite, TBH. Eyes get strained every few seconds and we have to blink them to refresh, but the heart never skips to beat. Because heart is for the infinite and has to go longer miles than the eyes while we dream.
3. IMPOSSIBLE Is What YOU THINK Is NOT Possible
Alright, now here we have, let’s say unreal or miraculous point, when Mr. Debraj-the teacher, is diagnosed Alzheimer and Michelle gets successful in reminding him their success dance. In fact, Mr. Debraj is found sitting at the fountain outside her house one dawn.
Both points are a miracle. One might argue that both of these are just for the sake of creating a drama, however, I think these are the two scenes that strengthen my belief on pray and talks with Creator.
Is God Great or A Disease?
Truly, God does what he wills. Disease is for the logical mind. Cure is a miracle. Miracle is for the mind that believes in the one who made the disease. ~ (YM)
ALL IN ALL
If you believe, believe as strong as Michelle. For all folks willing to know whether she gets successful in her graduate program, do watch the movie, as I don’t want to make it a spoiler blog for you.
